Welcome to TagByTag's beginner tutorial in web design!
The purpose of these tutorials is to give you a solid introduction to web design and programming techniques. You don't need any prior experience nor do you have to be a computer guru. In fact, learning how to create web pages is quite easy and fun!
One of the goals of TagByTag is to teach from the ground up how to properly design and code websites that are error-free, user friendly and search engine optimized. TagByTag places great importance on following the web standards.
There are just too many poorly written web pages out there that contain invalid code or confusing layout, dampening the user experience. Hopefully you will be able to create much better websites with the help of these tutorials!
Why learn web design?
There are many reasons why one would want to get into web design. For example you might want to:
- Have your personal homepage such as www.myname.com
- Spice up your blog or profile page on sites such as blogger and myspace
- Create and maintain your small-business homepage yourself rather than paying a webmaster
- Earn money by placing advertisement on homepages you created
- Find a job as a webmaster
Even if you're just doing this for fun or out of curiosity it will benefit you, as it will help you better understand an increasingly
technical world where more and more services shift towards the computer and the internet.
How to get started?
The following chapters will give you an easy introduction to web design and internet related technologies. Even if things like IP and client-server model sound familiar to you I suggest you read through this tutorial before moving on to make sure you got the basics covered.
If you have never done web design before the best way to proceed is to read through the tutorials from top to bottom. This will ensure that you learn things one at a time, building on top of each other.
